Remedial massage
Remedial massage is a more targeted treatment and is performed by qualified massage therapists. It focuses on parts of the body that require functional restoration or improvement. The pressure used can be strong and deep or gentle and shallow, depending on the issue. The therapist will aim to balance the length, tone and tension of muscles and tendons.
Remedial massage can be used to help:
-
Stimulate the blood supply
-
Make joints more mobile
-
Neck, shoulder or back pain
-
Headaches
-
Prevent injuries
-
Arthritis
-
Chronic pain
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy uses physical techniques to aid in better movement, reduce pain and stiffness. The aim is to speed up the healing process and increase quality of life.
Physiotherapists diagnose and manage a broad range of conditions with the bones, muscles, cardiovascular system, nerves and other parts of the body. They can help people to manage chronic diseases, give lifestyle advice, prescribe exercises and aids to help people manage better. They also give advice about your health and related issues.

Relaxation (Swedish)
A soothing massage designed to help the body reach homeostasis, de-stress, and relax using gentle strokes and kneading pressure. The therapist applies pressure along as well as against the fibers of the muscles and gently work the surface tissue to release the worries and tensions.
This is great for a 'reset'.
Sports massage
A style of massage that is performed with more vigorous strokes and a faster pace. It is a massage that helps prevent, treat injuries and promote flexibility.
Its aim is to help with restrictive movement. Sessions will focus on different muscle groups depending on what sports you are engaged in.
Deep tissue
Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscles and the surrounding connective tissues. This style of massage is used to target ‘knots’ and can also be used to break up scar tissue and stimulate blood flow for healing.
Deep tissue massage offers both physical and psychological benefits.
Lymphatic drainage
A gentle, rhythmical massage designed to stimulate the circulation of lymph fluid around the body and reduce blockages.
The fluid in the lymphatic system helps remove waste and toxins. Some health conditions can cause lymph fluid to build up and cause swelling.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture originated in traditional Chinese medicine. The fundamental belief of acupuncture is that illness is the result of blocked or interrupted Qi.
Qi provides your body with healing energy. Acupuncture seeks to remove these blockages and return your energy flow to a state of balance by inserting fine needles to specific spots.
Treatment may include combination with
-
Moxa,
-

-

TCM
Traditional Chinese medicine has evolved over thousands of years. TCM practitioners use various approaches such as acupuncture as well as herbal products to address health problems.
Dry needling
Dry needling uses a thin filiform needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points, muscular, and connective tissues to help manage pain and movement impairments. The needle helps release the 'knot' and relieve any muscle pain or spasms.
The needles will remain in your skin for a short period of time.
Pregnancy
A massage customised to an expectant mother's needs based on her stage of pregnancy. It helps to relieve tension, aches, pains and calm the mind.
At Plus Life Clinic we have specialised tables to allow treatment without the added belly pressure.
Hot stone massage
A specialty massage that is therapeutic and warming. Smooth, heated stones are used as an extension of the therapists hands.
The heat can be deeply relaxing and aid in loosening tight muscles more quickly and efficiently.
Reflexology
Involves finger pressure and techniques such as kneading and rubbing to encourage relaxation not to just the feet and hands, but throughout the body.
It’s based on a theory that these body parts are connected to certain organs and body systems.
